  • linear functions
  • quadratic functions
    • finding intercepts
    • finding vertex
    • applications
  • polynomials (relationship between degree and number of zeros, end behavior)


Students should be comfortable with (generally know domain/range/graph of)

  • radical function
  • step functions
  • absolute value functions
  • piecewise functions
  • exponential/log functions
  • equations and graphs of conics
  • arithmetic w/complex numbers
  • sequences (including recursive definitions)
  • sums (including arithmetic, geometric, squares, cubes)


Students should be familiar with

  • Right triangle definitions of sin θ, cos θ, tan θ (SohCahToa)
  • Special triangles (30° - 60° - 90°) and (45° - 45° - 90°)


Students should be able to

  • factor trinomials (un-FOIL)
  • factor difference of perfect squares
  • factor sum/difference of perfect cubes
  • factor by grouping
  • simplify expressions using properties/rules of exponents
  • simplify expressions using properties/rules of logarithms
  • solve equations involving linear, quadratic, square root, absolute value, rational functions
  • solve inequalities involving linear, quadratic, polynomial, absolute value, rational functions
